Walking in a Winter Wonderland: The Grange Estate’s Winterfest

Walking+in+a+Winter+Wonderland%3A+The+Grange+Estates+Winterfest

The days are getting colder as falling leaves give way to frost and ice. Break out your winter coats and mittens, the Winterfest is here at the Grange Estate!

As you enter the estate, your attention is immediately drawn to a festive archway, followed by a path lit up by multicolored Christmas lights. Travel down that path and you’ll be met with the bustling holiday activities offered left and right. Children crowd excitedly around the toy trains while parents wait patiently for hot chocolate and sweets.

Some of the engaging activities that were offered at the Winterfest were tours of the historic mansion, ornament making, relaxing by the fire pit, watching the toy trains, or even getting to meet Santa. In the mansion, one could explore rooms such as the Peacock Room, which held an array of old-time objects such as hair curlers and ceramic dishes. Outside, the fire pit was a place to relax and unwind from the excitement of the event, as well as stave off some of the biting chill of the winter evening. In the summer kitchen, crafts were available, with stickers and googly eyes galore to ensure the best combinations for your own special ornament.

The toy trains were the main attraction, with lines that wound almost all the way up the path. They were a staple for many children, especially so with the added picturesque background complete with felt snow and tiny Christmas trees. Last, but certainly not least, Santa had finally arrived, if the excited shrieks of curious children were anything to go by. Spirits were high as Santa marched down the festively lit path with bumbling toddlers in his wake.

The Winterfest was an enormous success. Children were occupied at every turn, and there were spaces for tired parents to relax. The mansion was warm and tastefully lit, and food and drink were in excess. It was a memorable day for all those who attended, and next year’s event is definitely one to look forward to! If you don’t want to wait until next year, you can tour the Grange Estate over winter break. Enjoy the train display and festive decorations on December 27th, 30th, and 31st!
