“Fords Forward is about paying what we have forward,” said the president of Fords Forward, Adeline Spitz (Sophomore). On October 24, 2025, Fords Forward, a donation-based club at Haverford High School, executed their biggest fundraiser yet. October is nationally recognized as Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, an issue that Spitz is very passionate about. To raise awareness at Haverford as well as in the community, Fords Forward partnered with the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County (DAPDC) to raise money to aid victims of domestic abuse.
To mobilize support for domestic abuse awareness, Spitz organized an activity during a wellness block at Haverford for club members to make vibrant and uplifting beaded bracelets. Apart from being a bonding experience for club members, bracelets were sold at the school. “All of the money raised will be donated to the Domestic Abuse Project,” Spitz explained. The bracelets were shades of purple (the color representing domestic abuse awareness) and were adorned with messages supporting the cause and extending solidarity.
The following week, the bracelets were advertised and sold around the school by the communication officers of the club. Paired with candy, the bracelets appealed to the students of Haverford and sold quickly. After only two days of selling, Fords Forward raised almost $400 for DAPDC. On Monday, November 24th, Haverford had the honor of meeting with Executive Director of DAPDC Michelle Brown, who visited the school to tell the club about their impact, a poignant message for many members. She explained that the money raised by the club will be able to support four different families whose lives have been impacted by domestic abuse.
Overall, the mission of DAPDC is to provide safety, legal advocacy, and services to victims of domestic abuse. Their work supports victims of abuse as well as their families, taking meaningful steps forward in the fight against domestic violence. On top of this, Fords Forward is filled with students committed to making a difference in the world through activism and donations, furthering the fight against domestic abuse. As a community, we deeply thank the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County for their continuous work, and we admire the high school generation of Fords Forward for their efforts and compassion as well.
If you or anyone you know is struggling against domestic abuse, don’t be afraid to contact the DAPDC Hotline at (610) 565-4590.
