It’s that time of the year- a time when students and teachers are ready to start winter break and celebrate the holidays. Before winter break commences, there is still one thing that needs to happen: the annual FBLA dodgeball tournament. There is always a variety of groups that compete in this tournament such as football players, soccer players, drama kids, and BC Calculus kids. One of the showdowns that some of the tournament attendees will be looking forward to is last year’s returning BC Calculus team and this year’s new BC Calculus team. A member of the returning team, Senior Gabe Robinson-Barr, commented on this matchup saying, “It will be an interesting game if we happen to play each other. Most of the kids on these teams are made to do complicated math, not play dodgeball.”

Although this is a fun-filled tournament, we cannot forget the purpose behind this event. This event is way to raise money for FBLA, which will be donating the profits to an organization called Cradles to Crayons. FBLA’s Vice President, Christine Chen, said, “After volunteering at the Cradles to Crayons warehouse, we [FBLA members] realized just how much help they needed to assist the impoverished children in the Philadelphia area. To show Haverford’s support for the cause, FBLA decided that we will donate all the profits from the dodgeball tournament to this amazing organization to help these kids have a better life.”

So, before everyone heads on vacation to sit around a fireplace, sip on some hot chocolate, or go to the mountains, let the games begin!
