The Haverford High School faculty started off the Homecoming week right with a convincing 47-23 win over Upper Darby’s faculty in the annual Homecoming faculty basketball game, held last Monday, November 25.

Haverford’s team consisted of nine teachers, while Upper Darby’s team consisted of a whopping sixteen teachers. Mr. Chris Walter discussed the size of  Upper Darby’s squad saying, “When we saw their team, they looked pretty intimidating, because they had so many players.” Mr. Walter was a strong presence for the Fords on the boards, grabbing rebound after rebound.

Mr. Greg Decina also had a phenomenal game showing amazing hustle on the court. Senior Jon Abraham, impressed by Decina’s his agility, commented, “Mr. Decina killed it out there! I wouldn’t have taken him as a basketball player, but he has a lot of speed, a nice shot, and some pretty quick hands.”

Although this was a “friendly” game, faculty from both schools displayed physical play, diving for balls and pushing to gain position for the rebounds.

Needless to say, both teams played hard and showed their competitiveness. Mr. Walter spoke about the team’s preparations for the hard-fought game saying, “We did a lot of push-ups, sit-ups, and sprints to get in the best physical shape possible.” Congratulations on the win, HHS faculty!
