On Wednesday, February 5th, the Haverford Science Olympiad team travelled to Neumann College to compete in the Regional tournament. Armed with carefully built devices, meticulously labeled field guides, and dozens of pages of notes, the team members participated in a variety of events- from testing a bungee drop to taking an entomology test. The Haverford team medaled in several events, including Experimental Design, Water Quality, and Entomology.
The team placed eighth out of the over 35 teams present, which granted them a competing spot in the state tournament. The team will travel to Juniata College in early May to compete at states. This year’s regional team was made up of Diego Fierros (11th), James Hiebert (11th), Davis Kurdyla (11th), Nick Lamprinakos (11th), Sophie McKeand (10th), Megha Nagaswami (11th), Owen Pollock (11th), Jeremy Zalles (11th), Brandon Chang (12th), Chris Donnay (12th), Courtney Dougherty (12th), Christie Lodge (12th), Shannon Dougherty (12th), Nick Termini (12th), and David Hessen (12th).
