If you’re not planning on seeing ‘Footloose’ you are definitely missing out, on probably one of the best shows ever to be put on by the Haverford Drama Club. ‘Footloose’ is full of tons of energy, great songs, and amazing vocal and acting by the talented cast and crew. It’s really remarkable what Haverford Theater can do.
The house was packed opening night with a crowd that was eagerly waiting for the curtains to open, and they were not left disappointed. The show is a spectacular one that is driven by the stunning work of the cast, crew, and dedicated pit orchestra. Vocal standouts of the performance include Juniors Issy Swantak, Tess Mallon, Danny Murphy, Leanne McGroary, and Seniors Haley Amdur, Scott Berkowitz, and Jake Dewerth-Jaffe. All of these students had moving solo performances that left the crowd wondering if they were really seeing a high-school show.
The cast together though was even better as they danced with palpable energy and excitment that got the crowd goin’. All of this was done to the tunes eminating from the professional pit orchestra which played throughout the night with skill and dexterity. Tech crew and the running crew brought the whole operation together with smooth scene changes, and really impressive lighting, sound, and set work.
The Fordian will do more of a detailed review in the future, but you should go see the show yourself because words can’t really describe the quality of this show properly. Seriously, it’s remarkable what the drama club put on.
