Last Friday, March 14th officially marked one week until opening night of ‘Footloose’ and the end of the first ‘tech’ week, where the cast rehearses on stage in conjunction with the tech crew! In this feature we again, snuck inside the auditorium as inconspicuously as we could to see how things were going with only seven days to go until show time.
The under-cover Fordian agents quietly made their way down the aisles blending in with the darkness that engulfed the auditorium at the closing hours of tech week part one, camouflaged in typical high school student ‘garb’. We were, incognito if you will, with our smartphones and sweatshirts that advertised various colleges; all in the name of journalism and promoting the spring musicale.
The show is making substantial progress with only seven days to go, as the set is coming together and the cast and tech crew are getting to know each other a little bit better with the long rehearsals they all endure and persevere through for the sake of the show.
And by long, we mean long!
The members of the Haverford Drama Club and Tech Crew have been working tirelessly for the past week with rehearsals going well into the night (from when the 2:22 bell rings) and are going to put in even more work this week especially as the curtains will open in a few days!
They even came in on Saturday and Sunday to rehearse, as the full run-throughs of the show have commenced. And that’s dedication folks. Dedication that is sure to show come opening night and over the show weekend.
Here are the authentic photos we captured during Friday’s rehearsal:

An overview shot of the rehearsal Friday. Again, notice the darkness of the auditorium that allowed the staff of The Fordian to go undetected.

Faculty Producer Ms. McCool talks with Junior Danny Murphy during one of the breaks about the “Cappies” ; the infamous high school student drama critics that nominate shows and their parts for awards every year.

When not in a scene, cast members take breaks in the audience or backstage eating meals, napping, or memorizing dances/lines.

Lighting Designer Sophomore Jacob Kaufhold works with fellow techies Jack Feder (right), Cullen Wilson (behind) and master techie Ben Kurtze (far left) in the back of the auditorium during a run-through of the show.

With one tech week under their belt, the drama club still has work to do but has come a long way from auditions and is sure to put on a great show.

Rehearsing on stage with the tech crew, the cast has been getting experience with all of the lighting, props, and the expansive set of the the show.
