Ms. Ward’s creative writing class makes its online debut

If you were to walk into Mrs. Ward’s 4th block class you would be surprised by two things: that there are about four kids lying on the floor with laptops, while the rest are scattered around the room in equally strange positions and the room is almost completely silent except for somebody asking, “Who uploaded the picture of Guy Fieri eating a stack of cheeseburgers?”

One may wonder what the class is working on or whether they are getting any work done at all. Although Mrs. Ward’s Creative writing class is not set up in a “normal” way, the class has been to able to create an online literary in just seven days. Their magazine, titled “eXpress”, is full of original poems, short stories, and insights from each student in Mrs. Ward’s creative writing classes.

The main goal of this literary magazine is for each student to learn and publish a writing piece, and all 23 students have been able to meet this demand.

There are six sections to check out in the magazine:

  1. Shriek, the horror section.
  2. Whisper, the philosophical poems section.
  3. Confess, the personal poems and insights section
  4. Chirp, the nature poetry section
  5. Narrate, the fictional short stories section
  6. Beep, the sci-fi and fantasy section.

The students of room 330 have put enormous effort into creating this high-quality magazine, and they are glad to release the magazine to the rest of Haverford High School and the whole world.
