On the 2nd day before winter break, The Fordian gives to you: two obscure holidays that you may not have know existed.

1.Festivus

Big Seinfeld fans are sure to remember this holiday created for “the rest of us” who choose not to celebrate other traditional holidays. While it was created facetiously, people have adopted the occasion into their lives and celebrate it the day before Christmas Eve, December 23rd. A usual holiday tradition is the decoration of a plain aluminum pole to oppose the materialism of the classic holidays during the winter season.

2. Boxing Day

Celebrated on the 26th of December, Boxing Day is a huge occasion in the United Kingdom and commonwealth nations that is recognized as the “shopping holiday.” It’s very similar to Black Friday in the states in that shops hold dramatic sales reductions and are packed with people. So, while you are checking out the after Christmas sales, the UK will be shopping until they drop, as well.
